16th-, 17th- and 18th-century America
A student of the 16th-18th Century Native South and Indigenous Ohio Valley, Kristofer Ray is also editor of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly and a co-editor of the “Indians and Southern History” series with the University of Alabama Press. In addition to several books chapters and journal articles, he is the author of Middle Tennessee, 1775-1825: Progress and Popular Democracy on the Southwestern Frontier (Tennessee, 2007) and Cherokees, Europeans, and Empire in the Trans-Appalachian West, 1670-1774 (under contract, Oklahoma). He also is co-editor with Brady DeSanti (Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe) of Understanding and Teaching Native American History: Essays and Resources (under contract, Wisconsin).
